Here's the finished monkey cake! The bottem two layers are chocolate and the top two are vanilla. It has a cookies & cream filling. I used milk chocolate covered Chow Mein noddles to look like branches all around the cake. This cake was actually a lot of firsts for me. My first loop bow....I had made the other kind of bow before. I decided to assemble the bow on the cake instead of the other method. My first time using this butter cream recipe....which incidently, I love it! It was fluffy and not too sweet. And, lastly, I had never used a cookies & cream filling before....I could eat that stuff with a spoon.
So, here's my first loop bow! :)
By the way, I should mention that it was almost 90 degrees in Rochester today! My monkeys started to slide right off the cake, nearly giving me a heart attack. We made it safely to the party, with only minor surgery upon arrival.
